New Lount Country Park closed for forestry works

New Lount Country Park is currently closed while forestry works are carried out across the site. The works began on 28 September 2026 and are expected to take up to five weeks to complete. During this period, the car parks and internal paths are closed and there is no public access to the site.
The work includes thinning woodland areas, particularly trees affected by ash dieback disease. Some timber will be removed from the site for use as biofuel, while some branches and brash will be left in place to create valuable habitat for wildlife.
These essential works will help manage the woodland and support the long-term health of the site.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank visitors for their patience and understanding.
Please check this page or our Leicestershire Country Parks Facebook page for updates on the progress of the works and reopening arrangements.
