What to see and do at Saltersford Valley Picnic Area
Nature
Saltersford Valley is a seven-hectare site in the National Forest which has open water areas known as ‘flashes’. These result from mining subsidence that causes the Saltersford Brook to flood. You can also find native woodland and open grassland areas which feature wild flowers.
The site was designated as a local nature reserve in 2004.
Activities
There are stone-surfaced paths for visitors to follow, where you can get a great view of the lake. You can also relax and take a break at our picnic area.
The paths are suitable for all users. Wheelchair users will need assistance in some places.
